This painting is not a copy but a reinterpretation of the iconic “Plum Tree Teahouse at Kameido”, originally a woodblock print by the Japanese ukiyoe master Hiroshige. Here is a demonstration of Van Gogh studying the techniques to create his own style, using bold colours and sharp contours.
