Text on the tag:
Kiyomizu Temple was built without a single nail in 1798 and still stands today. The Japanese expression “to jump off the stage at Kiyomizu” is the equivalent of the English “to take the plunge”. (An Edo period tradition held that, if one were to survive a jump from the stage, one’s wish would be granted.).
