By the British textile designer, poet and novelist, William Morris (1834-1896). Morris with his friends Burne-Jones and fellow-student William Fulford, travelled across northern France in the summer of 1855. Inspired by the medieval churches and cathedrals, he decided to give up the church and dedicate his lives to art. .
